Tim & Dave formed their first band in 1978 - when Dave was only 10 years old! Known as the Jerks, along with Dave's brother Pete - the band performed at their respective schools. Steve Berry joined the trio briefly on keyboards - before being replaced by Lennart Baudert on lead guitar and changing their name to the Catseyes. The Catseyes held a weekly Saturday morning residency at the local swimming centre - where they entertained with a mix of New Wave originals and Beatles covers. When Pete left the band in 1981 - Tim switched to bass guitar and the band made another brief name change to Cloud Nine before Lennart finally left aswell.
At this time, Tim turned his attentions to his other passion - recording. He would often pop into the local studio - where he had got to know the owner and make tea for the visiting musicians - in particular
the Cure
- where he managed to get Robert Smith listening to one of his home produced efforts as well as taking them to KFC! Also - at this time he met a certain Richard Nash who was always drumming with the local bands of the day.
Tim had set up his 4 track home studio and began advertising his services as a recording engineer. In the December of 1982 - a 15 year old girl by the name of Tarn turned up - with shocking bright red spikey hair and a fabulous voice. She recorded a few of the songs she had written and Tim added some bass guitar and the rest as they say is history ...
